Don't you worry!!!! You can still make your wedding memorable using DIY arts and crafts. Your decor can still be elegant and beautiful even if you don't have real flowers and Swarovski crystals.

SparkleArts would like to inspire and share with you ways you can create wedding decor for your dream wedding. I am by no means an expert, but through my love for everything artsy, I would like to share my journey with you.

Recently, I had the privilege of decorating the church and reception hall for my friend's wedding. Being this was my first time to decorate for a wedding by myself, I was naturally nervous and apprehensive. To add to the pressure, I only had 3 weeks to buy and make everything.Thanks to other fellow bloggers, the bride and I were able to come up with a theme for her wedding.

So with a 3 week timeline, this is what I came up with. The bride's main color was jade and she chose purple as her accent color.

This is dedicated to my roommates, friends, furi furi road trip buddies who helped me complete the projects on time.Thank you all!! No thanks to United Airlines who lost my luggage that had some of the wedding decor (Hmmpphhh!!) Thank goodness I still came up with something.

Tissue Paper Pom-Poms

Follow Martha Stewart's tutorial on how to make tissue pom-poms.

My vision was to use the pom-poms in the church pews as well as altar area. The idea was to distract the eye from the extra stuff on the altar area (chairs, piano, speakers) and narrow the view to the section where the couple would be saying their vows. See the extra stuff?

Church Before

I wanted to fill the altar area with white & ivory pom-poms and floating candles but no thanks to United who lost my luggage that had the pom-poms, I had to come up with a plan B on the day of the wedding. Note to self: do not return from a vacation the day before a wedding. 

Despite the hiccups, I think it came out nicely. What do you think?

 I love the way the pompoms worked with the jade bridesmaids dresses and jade ties for the grooms men.

Reception Table Signs

Dare to step out from the usual and create unique table signs that match your theme and decor. I used wrapping paper from the Dollar Store to make the pinwheels and painted the numbers, using a paint pen, onto craft paper.

Add background for table number. You can also use another pinwheel

Voila!!

For the cake table, you can paint letters onto the construction paper and staple each letter onto ribbon to hang. Optional: paste the individual letters to background construction paper to make them stand out more.

Examples of signs to make -  "Mr. & Mrs", "Love Is Sweet", "Love", "I Do", "Love Sweet Love"

Rose Petal Kissing Balls

With the help of Amy Huntley of The Idea Room I made my first crepe paper rose flower balls using Cindus crepe paper. This is the best crepe paper I could find at a reasonable cost. It is bleed, fade, and flame resistant (important if you have candles close by).

The colors of the flower balls were purple, lavender, hunter green, and teal. The purple and lavender flower balls were placed on the guest tables with a teal/jade table cloth. The hunter green, teal, and lavender flower balls were placed on the name card table with a white table cloth.

The process of cutting the crepe paper, making the roses and gluing them onto the styrofoam ball is very time consuming but the results are well worth it.

Church Guestbook Table

I am crazy in love with chalkboard paint and used it to make some of the signs in the wedding.You can purchase chalkboard paint from any crafts store or any store that sells paint.

"Love" pom-poms

For the "Thank You" sign I used a picture frame and spray painted the glass to create the chalkboard. The tea-light holder was from the Thrift store. It is also available at Ikea.
